Coconut Goodness!

Coconut So Good for many things

Coconut Oil

Added to Articles on Mon 10/29/2012
Conventional thought used to consider fats like coconut oil to be unhealthy and contribute to heart disease. We now know that this isn’t true. In fact, coconut oil is actually a heart healthy food that can keep your body running smoother in a few different ways

What are the health benefits of coconut oil?

Studies have show that intake of coconut oil can help our bodies mount resistance to both viruses and bacteria that can cause illness. Even more, it also can help to fight off yeast, fungus, and candida.

Coconut oil can also positively affect our hormones for thyroid and blood sugar control. People who take coconut oil also tend to have improvements in how they handle blood sugar, for coconut can help improve insulin use within the body. Coconut oil can boost thyroid function helping to increase metabolism, energy and endurance. It increases digestion and helps to absorb fat-soluble vitamins.

Can coconut oil reduce cholesterol?

Coconut oil has a saturated fat called lauric acid, a type of MCT. It has been shown that lauric acid increases the good HDL cholesterol in the blood to help improve cholesterol ratio levels. Coconut oil lowers cholesterol by promoting its conversion to pregnenolone, a molecule that is a precursor to many of the hormones our bodies need. Coconut can help restore normal thyroid function. When the thyroid does not function optimally, it can contribute to higher levels of bad cholesterol.

How does coconut help keep weight balanced?

Coconut fats have special fats called medium chain triglycerides (MCTs). It has been shown that breaking down these types of healthy fats in the liver leads to efficient burning of energy. One 2009 study found that women who consumed 30 milliliters (about 2 tablespoons) of coconut oil daily for 12 weeks not only did not gain more weight, but actually had lowered amounts of abdominal fat, a type of fat that is difficult to lose, and contributes to more heart problems.

Evidence showing that artificial sweeteners actually worsen the conditions it’s supposed to ameliorate—primarily obesity and diabetes—is quite overwhelming, and since its approval aspartame has been linked to all sorts of health problems. The following chronic illnesses can be triggered or worsened by ingesting of aspartame:

Brain tumors Multiple sclerosis Epilepsy

It hides behind brand names such as NutraSweet, Equal, Spoonful, and Equal-Measure, but its makers cannot conceal that it accounts for 75 percent of adverse reactions to food additives reported to the FDA.

A safety agency on Tuesday launched a public consultation on it's draft scientific opinion regarding the safety of the artificial
sweetner aspartame. The experts looked at the possible side
effects of phenylalanine, one of  aspartame's breakdown products.

come to Him He is waiting for you with open arms!

*Please pray this prayer with me....

Trusting in time of pain

“I lay my ‘whys’ before your cross in worship kneeling,
My mind too numb for thought, my heart beyond all feeling:
And worshiping, realize that I
In knowing You don’t need a ‘why.’”

The above is taken from the writings of Ruth Bell Graham. How very true these beautiful words ring in the ear!...
Recently I have been going through
some terrible pain caused by an infected tooth. The first few days of the non-stop pain this infection has been causing me were easy becuase I knew the Lord would soon deliver me and the pain would be but a memory.
However, when the infection and it's
pain entered it's second week, I started wondering if I should be doing more about it then just "standing on faith! It was difficult for me to even think about doing anything else but praying about it becuase the pain was so bad.
I even found myself wondering if the
fact that my mouth(and thus my teeth) are so close to my brain, could have anything to do with my fuzzy thinking. I asked myself how it could be that I could be experiencing such pain and not know what "else" I could do when I was already praying about it!
As I allowed my thoughts, my fears, to
be quieted and calmed in the knowledge that God was indeed working behind the scenes for my good,
I realized that I just needed to spend some precious
time at His feet, in His presence!
As I write this, the pain is better but not
gone. I am taking antibiotics and thanking and praising him for the moment, perhaps tomorrow, that the pain will at last be but a memory.
This "painful" experience has taught me
a valuble lesson, it has taught me that in pain it is
far better to ask "how," and not "why." As stated
in the quote above(by Ruth Bell Graham) I know
Him, so the why doesn't matter after all.

Tips it time to let go of your adult child...

     1. The teen/young adult, is showing signs of maturity and being responsible
     2. Can be trusted to make good choices when given new freedom
     3. Responsibly independent
     4. self-reliant
     5. seems to be flourishing in his/her own life
     6. Accepts responsibility for wrong choices
     7. Understands that actions have consequences

...This is when it is time to cut the apron strings.
Letting go is not easy for a parent but it is necessary
in order for a young person to be successful in his or
    her own life.

Resting in Jesus Arms

CFW Article

Trusting in God

"What time I am afraid, I will trust in the Lord." Psalm 56:3

With these uncertain times, fear likes to come knocking at our door but we must refuse to open the door and let it in. Instead we need to open God’s Word and see what He has to say about it all.

God’s Word encourages us to trust in the Lord no matter what is happening in our lives. And it is honest with us and lets us know that we will be tempted to fear but we must resist the temptation and trust God instead. The Word tells us in 2 Timothy 1:7 that the spirit of fear is not from God. What He gives to us is His Spirit of power, love, and soundness of mind.

We notice that "power" is the first thing He tells us He will give to us. Where do we get this power? 1 John 3:8 tells us that Jesus was manifested to "destroy" the works of the devil. That puts us in the power seat through Jesus Christ. Therefore, no weapon formed against us by the devil can prosper (see Isaiah 54:17). The weapon may be formed, but it cannot prosper. When we realize just what position we are in through Christ, fear cannot have power over us. Instead, we can have power over fear.

In Jeremiah 29:11, God tells us ..."For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, ... thoughts of peace and not evil, to give you a future and a hope." This promise makes us feel loved and cherished which helps us be of a sound mind that is free of fear. If God is for us who or what can be against us (see Romans 8:31).

We need to remember that we are children of the Most High God and the Holy Spirit will help us to walk in the victory that Jesus Christ made possible for us through His death, burial, resurrection, and ascension. When we store God’s Word in our hearts and declare it with our mouths we can stand strong against whatever the enemy throws at us. Isaiah 55:11 tells us His Word will not return void but will accomplish what it has been sent forth to do.

God is not a man that He would lie (see Numbers 23:19) so we can trust all the promises that He has made to us in His Word. We can say boldly to the devil, you are a liar and I will not listen to your lies – My God shall supply all my needs and I choose to trust what He has promised and not doubt it.
